Daily Life: Christmas Lights

Sunday the 20th was an exciting day for both Rhys and I. I had planned to go and see the lights being switched on in town as it marks the start of Christmas. I had never been to see this event. Last year I was working and don't ask me what I was doing the previous years. Rhys is old enough to stay up long enough to see these lights being turned on.

The town pulled together and raised enough money to get all brand new lights for this year, as the ones that were up for the last several years were very bad. Some of the decorations were missing bulbs, it took from the entire look. I have to say that the lights are so much better now.

All of this started around half four in the day, there were street vendors, Santa Clause to meet and many other things to do until the lights were turned on at six. Rhys wasn't really interested in any of that, not even to see Santa. He is a little odd sometimes when it comes to meeting people dressed up. It was a very cold day for all of this. In the end we got to see the lights being turned on and got to see some fireworks. It was a nice afternoon with my sister her boyfriend and Rhys. I love making great memories.

What were you up to for the weekend? Let me know in the comments, I would love to hear from you.

Nails of The Day: Essence Me and My Lover Sparkle Sand Effect

Since its only 5 weeks until Christmas, its the perfect time to bring out the Christmas nail polish colours. To start off this Holiday Season early I think it calls for a festive red. I am not that much a red nail polish girl, but when it comes down to Christmas I love wearing them colours. I am kinda in between two, both are by Essence. The first one is Fame Fatal which is what I call a true true Christmas red and the other polish is called Me and My Lover. Me and My Lover is a raspberry red with some glitter. When applied it dries to a sand texture. When I got it first I didn't really like the texture of this polish as it was way out of my comfort zone. I am very plain when it comes to nail polishes as you can see.  In the end I decided to go for Me and My Lover.

Base:
As my base I used Essence The gel nail polish which I really like to use at the moment, we did get off on a rocky note at the start. I really didn't like this base coat, as I found that it peeled very easy. The more I used it the more I like it.

Top:
As my top coat I used Essence The gel nail polish, again I love this top coat. I had the same problem with this top coat and the base I didn't like it at first, the more I used it the more I loved it.

P.S I have a review of these Base and Top Coats

Q. Have you tried these polishes before, what do you think of them? Let me know in the comments, I would love to hear from you.

5 Reasons why my blog hasn't grown since it launched.

Hi everyone, today I am going to share my thoughts on why my blog hasn't grown in the past three years, since I started this blog. I have been reading other people success stories, and I was trying to apply them to myself but when I started looking back I can clearly see why my blog hasn't grown. As much as it hurts for me to say that its the truth. Here are my five reason why my blog has failed!!! These are the things that I have to greatly in prove on. If I want to succeed

1. Not posting on a regular basis.

I have been very slow on writing content on my blog. I could get a wave of posing for a few days and then my motherhood will take over and I won't post for maybe a few months. I love writing but after a day with Rhys I don't feel like I want to do much at the end of the day. I have started planning my blog post and my YouTube videos so that I would be posting more regularly.

2. Posting on uninteresting things.

I find the most odd thing most interesting, and when it come to blogging, I really don't know what to blog about. Even though the cosmetics industry is so vast and so many things that I can write about. Then there is the other thing MONEY. I don't have that much money to be spending on makeup as my fist priority is putting food on the table. I have found that if you don't blog about trending topics people don't bother with your blog.

3. Not being up to date with trends.

When it comes down to cosmetics I am a very basic kinda gal. All of this heavy contouring, and baking thing has me so confused. I am kinda getting the hang of the contouring but this baking I really don't see the point. The other thing that really didn't take with me is fake eye lashes, as you may know I wear eye glasses all the time. I have short eye sight so that means that I have to wear specs all the time. As a result I find wearing false lashes just annoys me with my glasses. I have tried wearing them before and I found that so uncomfortable I don't know how girls wear them everyday.

4. Having a good camera.

I am still using my phone camera for pictures which is very to be honest, but I don't have props to go with my pictures. I have been taking a lot more notice of what other bloggers are doing with their pictures. How they are placing them and what props are popular to use.

5. Not connecting with other bloggers.

I read as many blogs as I can during the day or even when Rhys goes to bed but I don't comment of that many of them. Most of the time I really don't know what to say about the post. Other times its like a process that you have to go through before you can leave a comment and to be honest I really don't have the time for that. I really like very simple things. I am going to try and do better at this as I think this would be the biggest step to take that would grow my blog.

Q. What are the steps that you take to grow your blog? Let me know down in the comments below.

Thanks for stopping by and I will talk to you in the next one. xx

MUA romantic Efflorescence palette review.

Hi everyone.

Today I am going to review an MUA palette for you all. This palette is called Romantic Efflorescence. I believe that this pallete has been on the market for some time now. To be honest I haven't been into Superdrug in some time so I really don't know what is new and what is old, to me it's all new to me.

This MUA Romantic Efflorescence palette retails for €5.15 in Superdrug. It is the same packaging as all the other palettes they came out with. It has a clear from but instead of the casing being black it's white this time. It also comes with a double sided spounge applicator. I am just going to go through all the shades first and explain a little about each shade and then I'll give my last toughts on the whole product. The shades are as follows:

Mesmeric: is a matte skin tone shade. It is a good shade as a base or to blend out other shades, there isnt much colour from this shade.

Tempt: is a deep plum shade with some shimmer. Its little bit patchy when applied first, but easy to build up the color. Blends out nicely too.

Currupt: is a matte black shade. Its not very pigmented and applies patchy. Easy to blend.

Obsessed: is a deep brown shade with shimmer. Its more pigmented then Currupt. Its a beautiful shade that blends nicely.

Lavish: is a mid tone brown, that would nicely in the crease. Its easy to blend and a good color pay off.

Fiery: s a gold shimmery shade. Its is a very pigmeted shade

Bewitch: is a deep brown shimmer shade. Its has a buttery texture to it and it was easy to blend.

Magnet: is a matte dark grey shade. Came off a little dusty when applied first. Easy to blend out.

Exposed: is a shimmery light grey shade. It would be nice in the middle of the lid.

Siren: is a matte purple shade. Not as pigmented as the rest, patch when applied. Not as easy to build up the shade.

Reveal: is a shimmery nude shade that would be perfect as a brow bone highlight.

Captivae: is a matte brown shade, which would work lovely in the crease for more defonetion. Easy to blend out.

Over all I really like this Romantic Efflorescence palette, It has a good amound of shadows that are really nice, some of the shades are not that great. I would recomment this palette to my friends. I would give it a 8 out of 10. The look that I created with this palette that I showed in my video, the result from that is: the shadows stayed on all day long. They didn't fade or budge, It was just as good as when I first applied them, that is why I give is palette an 8/10.

That is it guys, I hope you have liked this review, its was short and sweet, if you would like to see this review in evern shorter time check out my channel.

Q. Have you tired any of the MUA products before, let me know in the comments.

Knitted Jumpers are Back

Hey guys.

During the week I was in Primark/Pennys and I noticed that all the knitted jumpers that are available again. Last year I had bought a purple knitted jumper with a sheep on it and I loved it. Jeff did laugh at it every time I wore it, I rocked it for so long that the wool is getting very tattered looking. I knew that I had to dump it. It wasn't the softest knitted jumper that I ever bought, I did love the sheep on it. I was having a look at the knitted jumpers in Primark and they seem very simple to make yourself, with the colours you like. The colours that Primak have out at the moment I am not too fond of.

You may know this already from last year that I started knitting as a hobby about a year and a half ago. My mum showed me and my sisters how to knit years ago but non of us picked it up for too long, as school and general life got in the way.

Last year I made myself a Raglan Cardigan. I loved it not it didn't come out like it was meant to be, but that is because I didn't do a swatch gauge, which at the time was something new to me and I wasn't too sure of how to do that. Its a very simple project to make if you are starting off, I know on the pattern download it states that its an intermediate level, but I would put it to a level 2 simple. I did have to concentrate on what I was doing at the time, but I did finished it and I felt so good.

My mother in-law pointed out that this kind of pattern would be nice made on a jumper, and that is my challenge to make a Raglan jumper from this type of pattern. I was a little confused at the start. Here is how I started this jumper.

1. I started knitting in the round so that it would knit up much faster. This part was the most simplest of it all.
2. Then I needed to place my stitch markers so that I would make my increases in the correct place every time. That wasn't too bad either, as I knew what I was doing from the Cardigan.
3. The biggest dilemma that I came across was how I am going to knit in the round and to increase one round and skip the next, that kinda baffled me for a day. When I sat down and thought about it, I would have to do a round where I did the increases and the next round I would just have to knit normally. I tried it and it worked out.

The only thing that I didn't do is make a border, so it looks like the top of my jumper is going to curl a bit. I will take that as a teaching lesson from my own mistakes. I was thinking of starting all over again, but when I looked on how far I have knitted, I really didn't want to start all over again. I do have to get longer needles because the ones that I am using at the moment are 5mm, circular in 16 inches, I will need the 32 inches circular.

I will keep you informed when I have finished this project and show you all how it turned out.

I love knitting it keeps me occupied for a little while. What is your hobby, let me know down in the comments below. :)

NOTD: Makeup Gallery time to shine, Lavender Cream

Hey guys,

During the week I had posted a review on the Poundland/Dealz Makeup Gallery cosmetics that I had bought, with those products I also picked up some nail polishes. Poundland/Dealz have a good enough nail polish line. The shade range is good, you have some glitters toppers, some glitter with colour, and just normal colours.

This one that I have on today is called Lavender Cream. When I seen this shade I knew I had to have it. Its a shade that I was after but just couldn't find it. Its a cool tones lavender shade. I do have a shade that is a much warmer then this one. It is such an end of summer, start of fall shade.

The price of this baby is only €1.50. The amazing colour pay off that it gives you is just as good as an expensive polish. Its a quick drying formula and is very opaque in two light coats. Its not streaky in anyway. It applies like a dream. I love it so much that I will be purchasing more of these polishes.

Have you tried any of the Poundland Makeup Gallery range? Let me know down in the comments below.

REVIEW: Poundlands Makeup Gallary Makeup line

Hi everyone. A while back I purchased make up products from Dealz better known as Poundland over in the UK. Dealz/ Poundland is your cheap store where everything is €1.50/£1.00. I was kinda curious about the make up but at the same time didn't want to buy it because I didn't know what it would do to my skin. Even though I can wear almost anything and I will be ok, at the same time I am always cautions of cheap make up.

One day I decided that I would put my fears aside and try this make up and see what happens because if you don't try you will never know. The next products that I will review for you today as just some of the products that I purchased. I got a few more which are still in the testing process.

The first thing that I reached for was the foundation. don't ask me why because the foundation is always the last. The shade that I picked up is Ivory. Which I liked because as you know I always reach for that shade.

When I first tried in on I loved it because it matched my complexion to the 'T' so I thought. I did notice that it was a little grainy to the texture. Once it was blended in it looked very nice. A couple of hours later I noticed that it went very patchy and my dry spots very noticeable. Which didn't settle with me. I tried it with a primer, moisturiser and on a bare face and it everytime I got the same result. In saying that I will not be repurchasing the foundation again.

Eyeshadows:
The three eyeshadows that I picked up are as follows.
Nude (2) Cappuccino (9) Brown Truffle (10)
I can't say enough good things about these shadows. All of these beautiful shades are supper pigmented they are supper easy to blend. I really can't say anything bad about these shadows. I love they so much and for the price you just can't go wrong.

I know these swatches aren't the best as my hand is on the dark side over the summer. These shadows are the best for an everyday eye look.

The last thing that I am going to talk about it the lip glosses and lip sticks. I have good news and bad, so I think I am going to start with the bad and that is the lip glosses. I purchased two and I only could find one on the day I was swatching for this post. These lip glosses are not the best they are pigmented but very sticky when I applied them to my lips. I could really tell tell that they were cheap glosses. On the good side the lip sticks are amazing. They pay off I got was unreal, as you can see from the swatch they are super pigmented. Super moisturizing on the lips. I love they both. Sorry guys I can't remember the name of them from the top of my head. I will be posting pictures of these babies on Instagram where I will have the names of them on there.

I hope you understood this post. If you have tried any of these let me know what you think about them. I would love to hear from you.

Thanks for stopping by.

Fashion: New Shoes

Hey guys.
So a while ago I uploaded a Wish Haul on YouTube and last week my fist ever shoes came from Wish.com. I have been waiting for these for about 19 days.  These black suede platform heels with a bow in front are the perfect pair of shoes I now owe. They cost me €25 including PP.

They are so light in weight and because of that they are very comfy too. I wore them Friday night and it felt like I had no shoes on at all. It was just heaven. They didn't cut my heels, or my toes. Every shoe that I purchase I have trouble with because (not to be gross) I have huge big toes, they always hurt me when I get new shoes. These shoes are rounded on the top and fit perfect. I picked up the side 39 which is a 6 here in Ireland. I am delighted that these shoes fit because lately I have to purchase size 5 (38) lately.

The only one thing that was disappointing about these shoes were that the bow was a little bend back while they were in the packaging.

I am over the moon with these shoes. I don't know will I buy more though. As I was a little scared buying these. These are dressy shoes and you can wear them with a casual outfit too. I think I will have to do some look with these shoes.

Q. Have you ever buy shoes from Wish.com? Let me know in the comments below. I would love to hear from you.

Thanks for stopping by Christina xx

My latest Obsession.

Hey guys.

As always I haven't blogged in a while, life has been a little stressful. I am not going to go into much detail for the time being on what has been happening as I am thinking of making some videos about it or even writing a blog post about it. Lets just get into what I have been up to lately, and it planning my daily life.

So about three weeks ago or so, I watched a plan with me video on YouTube. At first I was thinking this was so pointless, like why would anyone watch someone else planning their week. When I started watching those videos I was hooked. Its is more the creative side of it more then the actual planning of the week that I was more interested in. All those stickers got me so excited.

The next day I went online to see if I could get myself an Erin Condren Life Planner. I got such a shock to find out the price of these planners, its one thing to spend over €50 on a planner but then you have postage and packaging in an other €30 to €40 on top of that. That I wasn't really impressed about. To be honest I really didn't want to spend that much of money on something that I wasn't sure if I would keep doing it. So I went to my local Dealz or Poundland as its known in the UK, and purchased myself an academic planner. Its nothing fancy but for €1.50 it will do me just fine. As I am still trying to figure all this planning stuff out.

I am trying to see what works for me in this planner, if I am still planning by the end of the year, I think I will purchase the Erin Condren or a Happy Planner for myself. That will be my Birthday present for the new year. So far I think I am not doing too bad.

I have bought some stickers on Etsy. Some of the stickers are very expensive to be honest with the Postage included, but I have found a few shops that don't have over priced postage. I like supporting shops on Etsy, I am thinking that I am giving back to the community. One day I would like to open shop myself. I have a name picked for my shop, its just to get myself sorted and purchase a printed first and hopefully in time to buy a Silhouette. Some of the other purchases that I have made for this planner are washi tape. I love the way it is so easy to use, and makes your planner look fabulous.

My phone is not working properly for the past few weeks and I can't seem to import my pictures on my laptop, as a result I can't show you any pictures of my little planner pages. So until I have it all sorted if you would like to see my pictures of this planner that I have please follow me on Instagram, my username is Christina_Curtin I would be more then delighted to see you, Please say HI to me if you do come over from this post. I will have all my links linked at the end of this post for easy access.

Thanks everyone for stopping and reading this blog, it really means a lot to me. Talk soon

Summer 2016 Tag.

Hi everyone, how is everyone doing this fine everyone, or night shall I say.

Well for the past few days I have been thinking that I should sit down and make a new video for my YouTube channel, and you will never guess what I did. I was looking around for something to film that wouldn't be so much effort as I did have a very long day Sunday. The most simplest things to film would be a tag videos because there isn't much prep to be done for it. So I went on a Tag hunt, and here we are. I found this one by MakeupGeek. Here are the questions to it. Make sure to check out the video for the answers, because to be honest I am too tired and too lazy to write out all the answers. I hope you don't mind too much. Let me know what you think of the video

1. What is your favorite summer nail polish?

2. What is your favorite lip color for the summer?

3. What is your favorite summer dress?

4. What summer trends are you most excited about this summer?

7. What is your favorite body spray and perfume?

March Favourites

Good morning everyone.  Can you believe that we are in April already. March has gone so fast. March was a good month for me as I had good fun with my sister and my family. Work was also going good. As it was going so good I had treated myself to a few beauty products. Well to be honest some of the things are new and some are not. As I am trying to use products that already have instead of buying new products all the time.

Beauty:

Most people have a huge amount of make up brushes. While I don't have that many. I have a few Real Techneques ones and just odd ones here and there. I jumped at the chance to try this make up brushes from Pennys (Primark) by the P.S line when they came in to store. They all cast €2.50 each. As they are so cheap I didn't think that they would be any good. But oh my god, they are as good as my Real Techneques. The bristles are synthetic and very soft. The angled brush I used to apply my blush and contour with. The second double ended stipple brush is very good to apply concealer with and highlight. The last one is also a double ended, one side is a dome shaped eye shadow brush and the other end is a short bristles angled side, very handy to apply your eyeliner with or also for your brows if you use power to shade your brows. They are really good quality of brushes. There isn't a very huge variery of brushes from this line.

Also from the P.S line from Pennys ( Primark) I love the lipliners. They are so creamy and glide one effortlessly. These are the one that I have.

From left- right
Nude, Burgundy, Plum, Red

For the past month I have been using the Maybelline Colossal Mascara and the Collection Super size mascara. I fist use the Collection Supersized as its little drier formula while the Maybelline is more on the wet side. I really like the both.

Instead of a foundation I have been using a Garnier BB cream. I like to wear it going to work as its a light coverage but it does the job, as I don't want to be covered in make up at work. I like the natural look. For those dark circles underneath my eyes as I have to get up so early in the morning I
use the Catrice All Round Concealer. This is my second one. Its really creamy and it don't crease underneath my eyes during the day.

I was never one for contouring my face but I have trying to do so and as they say practice makes perfect. I have been using other products to contour and it didn't look very nice so I was on a hunt for a good product and I think I have found it. Its the Sleep contour palette in Fair. It has the perfect contour shade, a nice highlight shade that is not over the top and a nice blush, that you have to use is very little as a little way goes a long way. The blush has a little bit of shimmer to is, something on to the highlight shade. I have to say that this is my life saver.

To take off all of my beautiful face every day I started using the Boots Cleansing lotion. It is infused with cucumber. It leave my face feel so smooth and silky. I love it and I wouldn't use anything else.

I have heard so many good things about the next two products. The first one is the Rimmel Pressed translucent powder. I can see why people all over the beauty community were raving about this. I use it for work and I have to say that its a miracle. The second product I bought a little while ago but I didn't use it that much its the MUA Highlight. I sometimes apply it on top of other highlighter to make it more dramatic. I know I am not very dramatic but sometimes I just want that little bit of  'oh lala'

Katie my sister bought me this perfume from Christmas and I have been using it nearly everyday. Its the Celine Dion Signature perfume. I love it. She know me well.

For the last but not least I have to share with you all my favorite boots, that I have been wearing as mush as I can with anything that will do with them. They are just so comfy and go with pretty much anything. I think I will have to show you guys. I bought these in Pennys (Primark)

Well guys those are my favorites for this month. What are your favorites last month. Let me know down in the comments below.

Nails of the Day: BarryM and SoSu

Hi guys, how are ye all doing today. I know I didn't post last Sunday but when I realized that it was Sunday it was so late that I couldn't be bothered to take out the laptop. So today for a quick post here is the nails that I had this week. I have to say that absolutely loved it. The SoSu nail polish in Unicorn Dust made it last so much. Four days until any nail chipped.

The BarryM shade is called Blueberry.
it goes on very opaque with two coats.

The SoSu nail polish is called Unicorn Dust.
I applied just the one coat so that the lilac would come true very nicely.

This is my opinion is an elegant nail. I got a lot of complements.

What do think?

Daily Life:The plan to make this year the best one yet.

Hi everyone. So it has been a while as always. I think you all know me by now. While I have been away I am been enjoying life. This is what I have been up to in the last few weeks.

I have been enjoying working! I have made some silly mistakes and I have been learning from them. For example taken cake orders and doing them correctly, I know this might sound silly but there is a lot of things one has to ensure that everything is done right so that the customer is happy with the result. I have been so scared of taken cake orders just because I have never done them, then it was hard to give the customer advice on what type of cake they would like (if they didn't already know what they wanted), while I didn't know what the cakes were. By that I mean what type of sponge that could be used, filling and icing that would go nicely with the sponge. Now don't get to wrong I know how to make a cake but I didn't know how this company makes cakes and so on. Anyway six months down the line and I think that I am getting there, and by getting there I mean if a customer comes and to order a simple cake I have no problem taking the order. I have to say that I have gained a lot of experience so much in the last few months. Working in a coffee shop is not just serving customers and making coffee. Its so much more then that. I can say that I am so lucky that I got this opportunity to work with them. I am looking forward to many more months to work with these great people.

In a more personal note my sister comes in to the city to see me over the weekends. I can't be more happier to see her. She still lives at home and she is working all week, its great that we can get some few hours together to have a little giggle and Rhys loves his aunt.

In the last few days I have been thinking that I should start my own business. I have always wanted my own business or even to run a business of some sort. I love to be a BOSS. These are the things that I love doing and making.

  • Knitting
  • Baking and cooking
  • Cosmetics
With this thought in mind I was looking up how to make your own eye shadow at home. To start of and of course to practice with. I am not a chemist and I really don't know much or anything about chemistry. So this is going to be the way I have to go about it. I spend a good evening last night looking up on YouTube and online how to go about making your own cosmetics. All the supplies are quite cheap if you know where to buy them. So I am going to do some more research on that and I will keep you all up to date. I also have to think of a name and logo. But I think for the time being I will just stick to practising on how to make the eye shadows and other cosmetics like nail polish. These are my ideas that I would love to make them come true.

Thanks guys for spending the time to read my posts. Let me know if you have every trying making your own cosmetics and how it all went down for you, I wold love to know. If you have any advice for me also don't be shy and let me know.  Until the next time.

Getting back into it again

Hi guys, how are ye all doing?

I didn't blog last week becasuse I was way to tired to do it. Jeff and I went off and got ourselves a new laptop. Its pretty good I have to say. Its a HP one. Don't ask me any more about it because I have no idea about it. Jeff picked it out.

Work has been very slow at the start of the week for the past two weeks. We cleaned everything Monday and Tuesday.

I have to get used to editing my YouTube videos on the laptop and I am being so lazy about it. I know it has to be done. Talking of videos I am currently editing my January Favorites. If you have missed out in my last video here is is now. So that your up-to date.

I will be filming a new video for Thursday guys I think ye will enjoy this one. Its going to be a First Impressions with a twist.

In other news this Wednesday is going to be an exciting day, I am going to sit my Driving Theory Test. I am so looking forward to start driving and being more independent. That will make life so much easier, but also more expensive. The cost of petrol, insurance tax and everything else that comes with a car. It has to be done.

That is all of my news for today guys.

Daily Life : I have made some scheduls.

Hi guys, as always it has been over a months since I posted anything. You may already know that blogmas didn't work out for me. I was way to tired every night when I came home from work, it was my first Christmas working in ages and I hadn't got any energy to do anything. I did try to blog over my phone and for some reason the Blogger App isn't working anymore on my phone, I don't know why that is.

Last Monday I turned 26 years old. I can't believe that last year has gone so fast. Where does the time go, I really don;t know. There is so much I would like to do this year. The top thing on my list this year is to go to the Beauty Show in the RDS. I have holidays booked for that, now all is left to do is to buy the tickets which I think are on sale now, I must hurry on. I am sending off forms to get myself a new passport, I haven't been out of the country for over 8 years, I need to see the world. Another thing on my list to do this year.

Rhys was in hospital over the Christmas holidays and that wasn't a very nice experience. He is OK now though and that is all that matters.

As you may already know I work in a coffee shop. I had coffee training a month or so ago and since then I have been practising my coffee art. I am not on the coffee machine to often, so when I get a chance to make some coffees I will try to make some sort of art. I have been watching videos on Instagram of people making coffee art. It just amazes me. I am kinda weired.

On to other news. I have been thinking since its a new year and all that I should make a schedule for my YouTube channel and this blog, so that you guys will know when to come back for more material to watch and read. I am currently saving for a laptop so that way I will be able to do all of my YouTube and blogging stuff without interfering with Jeff's stuff too. At the moment we are using one computer and its kinda hard. I am thinking of writing blog post during the week and posting them on a Friday and Sunday, that way I have a least two posts a week going out. Same goes for YouTube I am going to record in the evening when I come home from work and upload those videos on a Tuesday and Thursday, I know a lot of people uploading on the same days but I think those days are the most popular days that people sit down and watch videos.

Those are my plans for the time being anyway. If anything changes I will let ye all know.

Thank you all for stopping by, don't forget to say HI to me in the comments.
